Adirondacks Photos

We had a wonderful, and exhausting!, day trip yesterday. We drove up to the Steuben Memorial Site in Remsen and then north to Pixley Falls State Park. I have loads of photos to go through and a few videos, as well.

The drive up was just as lovely as the stops we made. I love New York State in the autumn season. Here are some photos I took along the way. Be sure to click the photos for larger views.

That last photo was not a welcome sight. We passed the police car as it was parked in a “sting” position (someone’s driveway, facing oncoming traffic). Since it was a slow day (Columbus Day) and the station’s quota was probably low, he came after us. My husband was surprised– he was barely going above the speed limit. He told the officer so when he came to the window.

The officer said he was not here about the speed limit; it was the vehicle’s muffler (rather, the lack of a whole one). The officer said he could hear us coming before we rounded the bend.

Now I was the one to be surprised. We live in a very close, residential area and even though there is a nuisance law, motorcycles roar full throttle down the street, undisturbed. All. the. time. These bikes are so loud our windows and doors rattle and we cannot talk on the phone or hear each other speaking in the front rooms of the house. But here, in the middle of nowhere and surrounded by forests, we’re ticketed for a noisy muffler! LOL. I wish this guy would work at our local police station- might do some real good there.

Anyway… I’ll have more on our visit soon!

Lovely shots … except for that last one, of course. Did you get this guy’s name? I’d like to bring him here for a while. In winter, we have snow machines racing up and down the road. The rest of the year, it’s 4-wheelers and 3-wheelers and dirt bikes – all illegal, of course. We’ve thought about stringing an invisible wire across the road, but we decided that wasn’t very Christian. But, boy, it’s tempting.

Oh how I do love that part of the state. There’s so much beauty to see that goes passed by because everyone heads to New York City.

Oh if I were back in Maine I could get some lovely fall foliage shots too. But, we are further south now and the change is very subtle.

    Great share thank you!!:-)

Your pictures make me miss the East Coast. I am from MD, but I have lived in Southern California for 11 years now. Our seasons (or lack thereof) are not this beautiful. Autumn is my absolute favorite season.

Our leaves have not turned quite as much a bit south of you in the Roxiticus Valley, New Jersey…but you’ve given me a reminder to get out there with my camera when they do.

    Thanks for sharing…
