I cannot BELIEVE the skyrocketing gas prices. This is ridiculous. I know all of you share my pain, lol. Here in New York State, we are on the brink of $4.00 a gallon, and that’s for ECONOMY grade. Taxes chew up a lot of the budget. There’s chatter going on in our state capitol that a reduction in gas tax is necessary, but state Democrats are against it, and may even opt to raise taxes. Incredible. These high costs are driving everything else up, too. In America, we need inexpensive fuel costs, because our country is so large and so rural that it is impossible to travel without a car. In Europe, it is easier to just walk where you need to go, but not so in America. The closest grocery store is 2.5 miles away, and the closest bargain grocery store is 8 miles away. So the high costs of transportation are killing rural America, not to mention the tourist industry. It is just too expensive to maintain the costs. I can’t imagine how expensive it has become to fly across the country! Gas prices may be high, but I do prefer car travel and I’d really rather not pay $500 a pop to go through all the intrusive “security” measures.
We Americans still need to travel– whether it’s to the grocery store or to Florida to see our relatives. One good option for travel– especially long-distance travel– is renting a vehicle. This is a huge benefit if you need a larger vehicle and do not want to purchase one! And because of high maintenance costs for cars (coupled with the high insurance rates, inspection rates, and high taxation), it may help to rent a car to get where you need to go. Car rental companies are eager to offer excellent deals and special discounts (some as low as $20 a day). Advantage.com is one such car rental company. Remember to always check the rental company’s credentials; it helps that a company has worldwide locations (as Advantage does), and an excellent customer service reputation. Advantage.com has a website devoted to answering clients’ questions, helping get the best prices, and offering a wide selection for your particular traveling need. Check their website for promo codes and deals.
