Eating Local

Here’s a great little resource I found today: Where the Locals Eat. I don’t know about you, but when I am visiting a different city, I feel very lost when it comes time to choose a place to eat. Some hotels offer suggestions, but is pizza and pancakes really all there is?! The phone book isn’t much better. Online references are much better, as they usually have user input, detailed directions and maps, and sometimes you can see the menu and prices online. I usually carry my laptop when I travel, and I have a folder of bookmarks for just this purpose. One note about the site, though– they don’t seem to have any small towns or even small cities listed, only large cities in the U.S.

I love the idea of this site and it will come in real handy, I just wish it covered smaller places. I have eaten in so many places that I wish I hadn’t, nowadays I always try to do a wee bit of research when travelling to differnt countries as to which places to avoid.

Nowadays I cook almost everyday (it’s a pain in the butt but it costs alot less) but when I do go out to eat, it’s usually a national chain restaurant like Chili’s or Applebees. I don’t trust the mom and pop restaurants ever since Kitchen Nightmares with Chef Ramsey. Oh my goodness, talk about disgusting!!! Go to this site and check it out if you haven’t: http://www.fox.com/fod/play.php?sh=nightmares&src=menu_item_full_episodes

By the way, thanks for the compliment on the blog look. I’m proud to say I did it myself ;) .. And I’m a Photoshop beginner.. It takes time but little by little I’m getting it.
