Oh, I love fine art. I studied art and the fine arts in school. I have an eclectic taste that expands across all genres, but I especially love luminism (aka romanticism, of the Hudson Valley School of art), and photo-realism. I have a teeny-tiny collection of Hudson Valley School paintings, and various other types. When I lived in Manhattan, I was close friends with a young lady who worked at Christie’s, that famous auction site, and of course got to see so many lovely things. How about you, do you have an eye for art? Art appreciation, like fine music appreciation, is becoming an “endangered subject” in modern society. I think this forgetfulness is to the detriment of society (which seems more obsessed with sports and science these days). Beauty and grace in art form as well as character will always be important.

Art aficionados may be gratified to learn of the Park West Gallery, an organization that conducts art auctions in the United States and Canada (based in Michigan). Through the extensive network that Park West has been able to build, the company connects artists and buyers of art. Their connections are quite extensive. If you go to their website, you can see a list of artists, their biographies, and examples of their work. Some of the paintings are absolutely exquisite! I loved this piece by Alexander Chen, of the Flat Iron Building in Manhattan. My son and I were just looking at a photograph of the building this morning, and admiring how elegant it is. I think that Chen captures its elegance and beauty very well.

If you love art– buying or just looking– take a peek at the site. An art lover’s dream!
