New York State Fair

I have a confession to make. Or some might consider it an accomplishment! re: I have never been to the New York State Fair. Nope, never.

Year after year, I’d see the media blitz on TV, hear it on the radio, see it in the papers. It’s a BIG event here in New York State. I only lived 20 minutes from the fairgrounds as a kid. And I always drove past it, going through Syracuse every once in a while. It’s kind of funny that I, New York State native and a blogging traveler at that, have never attended Upstate’s biggest event. Oh well. When I was a teenager and my friends were going, my step-dad (wisely) refused to permit me to go. “It’s not a place for a young lady,” he’d say. And now that I’m an “old lady,” (well, a middle lady, mind you!), I have no desire to go. I’d rather read a book or play games with playstation 3. My husband went a few years ago, to see the rock band Santana. I did not accompany him. I just have no interest, and I hate Santana, to boot. lol

ANYWAY…. so the New York State Fair is open, until September 1st. If you go, feel free to snap a photo and send it my way. Because I doubt I’ll ever see it for myself. Just one of those funny things…
