History can be difficult to teach and difficult to understand. Who wants to read dry historical facts from enormous, dusty tomes at the library? One of the main reasons I started this blog was to teach my children more about history, especially local history. Our countless “field trips” served as educational as well as entertainment outlets for the kids over the years. As I recorded our travels on this online journal, the children were able to see again what we had learned and discovered. As they grew older, they became participants in this venture by writing essays, offering opinions, taking photos and making videos. Today, they now give me input on places they like to see or visit again. It’s been an incredibly enriching experience that, I hope, they will remember throughout their lives.
Some children do not have such opportunities. In government-run schools, time and money for field trips, private tutoring and remedial help, and other such experiences are very limited. Even in a homeschooled environment, it may be difficult for the parent to act as the teacher of all subject matters. This is normal– we all need a little help with certain things.
So there’s TutorHub.com. At TutorHub, parents and teachers can search for and locate experienced, qualified private tutors for children. The organization is outstanding. If your child has a question, simply visit TutorHub and type it in. Knowledgeable tutors can answer it very easily. If your child needs advanced help or regular tutoring, you can request a tutor online. It’s pretty amazing! We have used tutoring services online for various subjects (especially math!) and it has helped my sons immensely.
So we can’t all know everything and teach everything. And we can’t all go galavanting across the country or state on field trips or to expert classrooms with amazing teachers. But with online tutoring, there’s help. If your child wants to learn more about a certain topic or needs a little help from an experienced tutor, definitely give TutorHub a try!
