Pet Sitting

This time I’m going to be a pet sitter. Usually when I travel, I call on my beloved sister to come and watch our pets while we are away. This time, I’m going to be baby-sitting her pets while her family goes away on vacation. Fun!

Our families have a lot of critters between us. We have a cockatiel, two cats, and a Beagle. They have doves, a cockatiel, rabbits, a cat, and a Greyhound dog. Talk about busy! Having pets is good for the children, because it teaches them to be responsible, but pets are expensive hobbies. Vet bills are very expensive, we have found. It it beneficial to do a little research online about caring for pets and learning about their idiosyncrasies, especially when it comes to dog care. I know next to nothing about dogs, except that they like to eat their own poop. Yah, a real heart-warmer, that.

It is absolutely loaded with tips, helps, articles, and more– everything from an article about apartment living with your dog to traveling with your cat. (Our cats always manage to squeeze out of their boxes while on the way to the vet, and they scrambled around the moving car like maniacs. sigh. I should study that article). I am relieved that pet care doesn’t need to be so mysterious. I don’t know what I’d do without the information I’ve gotten. It’s made me a better pet owner– and a better pet-sitter.
