Photo Hunters: Low

Photo Hunter

What an interesting theme for this week! I’m looking forward to seeing everyone’s photos for this one. As for me, it took some thought…..

The first thing that came to mind was the view from a waterfall– down beLOW. One of the most beautiful waterfalls I’ve seen is in Chittenango, NY. This is considered the waterfall “jewel of Central New York.” It is beautiful. You can read more about our trip to the Chittenango State Park here. And this post was also nominated to win the Road Trip Journal’s Reader’s Survey Award. I would just love it if you would take the two-question survey and vote for me! If I win, I get a $100 gas card! And one of you who votes for me will get one, too! Maybe you could take a minute or two and send me a vote?

Chittenango Falls

Here we are, walking down, down, down to the low spot to see the base of the Falls.

Down to Chittenango Gorge

Here are the kids, visiting the Utica Public Library. They are in the low foyer.

In the Circulation Area

This is one of my favorite photos. It’s the view of Lake Ontario from Fort Ontario in Oswego, NY. We stood high upon the fortified berms and looked off to the lake, low on the horizon.

Beautiful Lake View

Benches on the Berm

Also at the same fort, we went low into the bowels of the fort, into a concrete bunker low into the ground. It was so cool down here, a wonderful break from the hot sun above.

Stairs to Underground

The kids got to play “battle” with their newly-purchased souvenir guns.

Lookin for Tories

The low point of our visit was seeing the graveyard of those who lost their lives for the sake of liberty during the American Revolution. The monument to the Unknown Soldier was here.

Unknown Soldiers Sepia

So that’s our Photo Hunt! How did yours go today? :D

Like you, I thought first of “below” rather than “low”-themed photos. Re the “low” photos you put up: definitely can see why the one you described as your favorite is so. :)

I had to come back, because my previous comment looked too generic (like I haven’t actually seen your post!). My favourite one is without the doubt the waterfall! ;-)

Beautiful ocean shots…I forget how striking green grass, ocean, and sky can look together…I get so used to just seeing sand. Bonus, you have “orbs” down in the bunker…dead soldiers perhaps, I’ve always been told the “orbs” in my photos are angels watching over me.
