Photo Hunters: Scary!

Photo Hunter

This was another really tough one for me this week! I find bugs to be very, very scary.. but it’s late October here and all our bugs are either frozen by now or are migrating down to annoy you folks in the south, hee. But I brainstormed with the kids and guess what? I FOUND SOMETHING REALLY REALLY SCARY! It’s THIS:

bsod

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I am the computer technician in the house, and we have.. SIX computers! So when I see this, my hair goes white and my knees start to clatter.

But you know what’s worse? That image is from a screen saver! It’s a program you can download and install on your computer! (Or as a nasty, nasty prank but we don’t want to be doing that, do we? An infuriated co-worker or spouse would be ever scarier!). You can see for yourself– information about this scary screen saver program is here.

One other scary thing I thought of was a work of art we saw this week at the Munson-Williams-Proctor Institute museum. I didn’t get a photo, though– I was videotaping. It’s a short video, you can see the big bug here. It was quite startling to enter the museum and see this huge spider dangling from the second floor! The artist did a great job, too– it looks real!

How did your Photo Hunt go today?

ughhh… that is really SCARY!!! same here…I’m having goosebumps whenever I encounter that much dreaded “blue screen of death”. Have you seen your screen turn white??? It happened to my computer monitor, and I was so scared I immediately turned it off. I’m still gathering enough courage to boot it up again… hope it won’t give me a white screen this time.

…and that big spider would be a nice decor in a Halloween party! :)

    Enjoy your weekend!

Oh my what huge and scary looking spider. And the warning on your computer is also very scary. I know because I have had that happen.

I always enjoy your posts so much. You just have so much to share about so many things.

    Happy week end:-)

Just reading about it sent shivers down my spine! Talk about a nightmare!!

  22. Aileni Noyle on Sat, 25th Oct 2008 1:23 pm

Indeed it is most scary – we panic when that happens. Though we have so far managed to overcome.
Weird sense of humour to make it wallpaper.

  23. Snap2days on Sat, 25th Oct 2008 1:29 pm

Wow, you scared me there for a minute…. ;-)

  24. SabineM on Sat, 25th Oct 2008 1:29 pm

Fabulous for the theme. I DO get very scared when I see something like that. LUCKILY I have Mac now, and for three years haven’t been scared!

What a scary installation. In Liverpool there was a huge animated spider as part of the European City of Culture coelebrations. I wish I#d seen it. Happy weekend

  28. Cindy on Sat, 25th Oct 2008 1:44 pm

The spider is a piece of cake compared to that frightening “screen saver”. THAT would give me a heart attack from fright!

  29. petrus on Sat, 25th Oct 2008 1:47 pm

Yes when something happens and you get one of those error messages your heart sinks.

  30. jmb on Sat, 25th Oct 2008 1:51 pm

That would be a very unkind joke. Remember the blue screen of death? Not scary but so frutstrating. Happy Weekend to you and thanks for dropping by.

  31. Sue on Sat, 25th Oct 2008 2:16 pm

Another great take on the theme! It is scary when you see that message on your computer. A great prank for someone though. & the giant spider is scary too.

  32. Sniffie and the Florida Furkids on Sat, 25th Oct 2008 2:25 pm

    That’s one super big spider.

Mom doesn’t like blue screens on her ‘puter either! She thinks they are pretty scary!!

    Sniffie and the Florida Furkids

  33. A. on Sat, 25th Oct 2008 2:27 pm

That screen saver is so funny! :) Scary too, I know, if it happened to you without you knowing it was a prank. That is one big spider in the video.

Thanks for visiting mine earlier. In France, at least in the rural part where we live, Halloween is barely noticeable. Even in England it’s nothing like the USA from what I can gather. There is probably still more emphasis on Guy Fawkes/bonfire night.

  34. Emzkie on Sat, 25th Oct 2008 3:36 pm

oh my god.. i could feel my inside trembling when i saw the spider. even though its not real, still it creeps me out!
    btw thnx for the visit!

    LOL Good one.

  42. julie on Sat, 25th Oct 2008 6:54 pm

Oh, of course, the blue screen. A few times I got a white screen in my WordPress dashboard, I musta turned white with fear too.

  48. bingskee on Sat, 25th Oct 2008 9:55 pm

that is truly scary! that is why i get choosy with downloads.

  49. Susan on Sat, 25th Oct 2008 10:36 pm

This reminds me of a program my husband wrote (and sent out to everyone he knew!)that similates and automatic reboot of the computer. He got a lot of interesting phone calls wondering what the heck was happening to computers!

I’ll have to see if he knows about this screensaver. :)

  50. Susan on Sat, 25th Oct 2008 10:38 pm

Oops, I meant to give you the site where our Scary photos are…it’s here

    http://twolives.aminus3.com

Silly Wordpress just put my everyday blog, not our shared photoblog…

  51. Lew on Sat, 25th Oct 2008 10:50 pm

That message is scary! Marianne got one a few weeks ago that said “NTLDR” not found. I eventually found that the Windows boot settings had been changed to try the backup drive instead of the C drive. The spider looks like something out of Jurassic Park!

  52. Irene on Sat, 25th Oct 2008 11:40 pm

That screen saver indeed can give anyone a heart attack. My bro did installed one long time ago, another type but don’t remember which kind, it’s enough to give me a shock.

  53. marta on Sun, 26th Oct 2008 12:16 am

I love the art work. ;) But that computer message is definitely scary. I’ve had my PC crash 3 times and lost my hard drive each time so I definitely don’t like crash messages. Hisssss….

  54. bintang on Sun, 26th Oct 2008 12:47 am

That BSOD is always a scary thing when you have almost one terabyte of data in your harddisk :)

  55. Lissa (Forever Foster) on Sun, 26th Oct 2008 1:20 am

Computer messages like that mean panic stations!! It’s very scary indeed. And as for that spider… shivers!

  56. Gabriel on Sun, 26th Oct 2008 1:25 am

Now that blue screen of death was scary! Very scary!!! :0)

  57. inyang on Sun, 26th Oct 2008 3:18 am

i had that problem a couple of years ago, and i hated it!

  58. Sabine on Sun, 26th Oct 2008 3:24 am

I’m with you all the way LOL! There are very few things scarier than Windows’ blue screens… nothing as scary as that sinking feeling in your stomach pit! (And I should know too, because I just had one a couple of weeks ago, and my PC hasn’t come back to life ever since!!)

That spider made my skin shrink two sizes…

  59. Gemma on Sun, 26th Oct 2008 7:33 am

I would go so far as to say that blue screen of death is more scary than a spider! Many hours of work living are suddenly threatened! O help what a thought!

  60. eastcoastlife on Sun, 26th Oct 2008 12:37 pm

I would be at a loss too if my computer went dead. I’m an IT idiot.

  61. Hootin' Anni on Sun, 26th Oct 2008 3:04 pm

    That would be sooooooooo scary!!!

  62. keiki3 on Sun, 26th Oct 2008 3:45 pm

That’s one big bug — and a very scary blue screen… Thanks for visiting…

  63. Ane Lagerqvist on Sun, 26th Oct 2008 4:16 pm

Nooooo. I hate those. I have never had to face it lately, but I got scared, I have to admit.

  64. marites on Sun, 26th Oct 2008 11:49 pm

we have the same scared feeling seeing that blue screen. Can’t help it:) Hopefully, I won’t have to see it again. My PH is already up.

  65. me ann my camera on Mon, 27th Oct 2008 5:05 am

Well that scared me for at first I was confused and thought it was on my computer! Scary!

  66. Karin on Mon, 27th Oct 2008 9:39 am

Oh no, computer error messages must be the scariest thing out there! Don’t know why I didn’t think of that, you really hit the nail on the head, LOL!

  67. Brine Queen on Mon, 27th Oct 2008 11:37 am

Haha! I was thinking, the blue screen it’s scary!!! But then I saw that it is a screen saver! That’s mean and yet so awesome.

    Thanks for stopping by!

  68. Gypsy at Heart on Mon, 27th Oct 2008 1:56 pm

I think the only thing that would make that bug scarier, is if it began to move!
The blue screen really scared me. I had just gone through a big computer glitch and it appeared to be emerging again….

  69. Rach (Heart of Rachel) on Fri, 31st Oct 2008 12:35 am

First of all, please pardon my very late visit.

I experienced that blue screen a few times but I’m lucky that after rebooting, everything resumed back to normal. Good thing yours was just a screen saver.

    Yikes, that’s a big spider.

I appreciate comments! Please leave yours here.
