Photo Hunter

Today’s Photo Hunters scavenger hunt is Thirteen. Hmm.

I remembered that last Sunday, April 13th, was a certain president’s birthday. Can you guess?

TwoDollarFront

That’s a rare $2 bill I have there. My grandparents gave it to me when I was kid. I heard a news story a year ago that a man tried to use his $2 as a prank. He went to a store to buy something there, maybe some teak patio furniture, heh heh. (A $2 is legal tender, by the way). The cashier didn’t know that $2 are legal, so she called the police, and the man was arrested for fraud and counterfeiting money! He had to explain that this $2 was genuine and was legal to use. I have my $2 tucked away, but I snapped a photo of it. It’s a little blurry– sorry!

Thomas Jefferson was born on April 13, 1743. I always remember it, because my uncle shares his birthday!

  1. Some wonderful thinking going on this week for this theme of 13. Good Post!!

  2. Great choice for the theme. Interesting take!

  3. I’m glad you said who it was, because I was squinting at the print on the bill, trying to figure it out.

  4. I love the story behind the bill, that is too funny! Of course, it probably wasn’t funny to the poor guy trying to spend the money, lol.

  5. That is a great 13! Very creative!!

Btw, I can’t believe the police didn’t know the $2 bill is legal tender!!

  6. That’s a great thriteen. As for the two dollar bills, I had a second grader spend several at our book fair last month. I thought it was weird that he had all these crisp twos. Seems his family had been to Vietnam for the holidays and he got them there as New Year’s presents.

  7. that’s a clever take on this week’s theme. well done!

  8. Man, that looks as fake as a 2…… never mind. ;)

  9. very informative, great take on this weeks theme
view mine if you wish here thanx

  10. Hmm… I wonder what is the worth of the $2 bill now? Definitely more than $2 I suppose? :p

  11. I think I’ve got one around somewhere, and I know I have a one dollar silver certificate as well.
