Travel Gadgetry

Oo I love my gadgets. I try to keep things down to a minimum, though. I don’t have a Blackberry– I only got a cell phone a year ago, and it’s not Internet-capable! I don’t have those teeny-tiny computers or anything like it. When we travel, I bring my cameras, SD memory cards, and laptop, and that’s it! I have two laptops– one is very beat-up and is used mostly by the kids for their various school assignments. My newer one is for business. I travel with it because we usually combine car trips. For example, when we see the dentist or orthodontist (a half-hour to hour-long trip for us), I also try to plan a trip to a museum or a park in that vicinity. It saves on gas and time. However, waiting times are lengthy at the doctors’ offices, so I tap into their Internet wireless and work on my laptop while I wait. See how thrifty I am!

I’ve had my Toshiba laptop for almost half a year now. Toshiba is so much better than HP!!!! I am very happy with Toshiba. I have not had to call support ONCE. When I got my little HP laptop years ago, the support technicians and I were on a first-name basis and recognized each other’s voices. :S

Goo-Goo For Travel Gadgets

Weeeeeeeeeeeell, since I’m not doing any traveling, I may as well do some online window shopping and browse for travel gadgets! There have been some great sales going on right now. Gadgets are IN!

I’m actually surfing around for deals on memory cards– those secure digital SD cards for cameras. Since I got my new Canon Powershot (it takes videos in color AND in sound! woo!), I run out of memory very quickly. Er, maybe I should say– the KIDS run it out of memory very quickly. Heh. We are entering the wide world of video. We’ve even taken a few videos of our car trips. I haven’t posted them because, well, I haven’t gotten around to editing them and uploading them. I’m too busy window shopping, lol! Really– I do hope to include videos more frequently here. Sometime. Yeah.

Anyway, my favorite gadget store, Buy.com, has some great deals this week. They have great deals every week, I think, but this week I see a sale on 8 gigabyte Dane-Elec SD card for $24.95 after rebate. Niiice! I wonder how long it would take for the kids to fill that baby up. Hmm. Might have to get two! The price is right, and shipping is free.
