Photo Hunters: Space

I shall slack no more!! My previous Photo Hunters have been rather lame. The winter blues have hit me harder than usual this year. It’s been a bone-chilling winter, and I am glad to see it start to ebb away.
Today’s theme is SPACE.. space…space…space…
First thing I thought of was, obviously, OUTER space. This is a photo of when we visited the Children’s Museum in Utica, NY. The entire fourth floor of the museum is devoted to modern science and technological development.
But then I thought of WIDE OPEN SPACE. And we have a lot of that here in New York.
This is when we visited Fort Ontario, in Oswego, NY. That’s the great Lake Ontario there. Isn’t it exquisite? We were up high on berms, as the fort is situated on a small hill looking down on the shores of the lake.
Ahhhhh a person can BREEEEATHE out here.
Here’s a photo of the Fenner Windmill Project in Madison County, NY. The area has dozens more windmills now. They are enormous. I love how they are framed by the pinkish hue in the sky.
I took the next photo yesterday. It’s a wide open meadow, ready for crops. I liked the furrows so I snapped a photo.
And finally, there is the SPACE of ETERNITY, where we will all spend. This is a small cemetery atop Paris Hill in Paris, NY.

Photo Hunters: What IS That?!

When you’re on a photo scavenger hunt for weird-looking things, you really can’t go wrong with animals or bugs. So of course, that’s what I’d have!
What IS that weird looking bag of… ??
It’s a clam– a dissected clam that we inspected for our science experiment. Would YOU eat one of those? Yuk! Ick! Blech!
What IS that spooky-looking thing with glowing handcrafted jewelry for eyes?!
It’s a real fish– the Amazon pacu, and we saw it at the Children’s Museum in Utica. Yik.
And finally…
What IS that scary, terrifying creature!?
That’s the Ferocious Fuzzy the Cat– but he’s a real vicious tiger, ready to climb curtains and shred the fabric in a single bound, his spinning claws shredding everything in sight! He’s a lean, mean, shredding machine! (He’s also been booted outside, permanently; heh heh).

Wordless Wednesday: Crazy Driver

We visited the Children’s Museum in Utica the other day. I’m putting together all our photos and videos and hope to have a post up in a day or two. It was so much fun! I thought I’d post a quick sneak peek. My son’s favorite hands-on display, as you can see here, is the Driver’s Education car. Anyone remember those? Hmm, looks like he’s needing some hefty car insurance there. Talk about a lead-foot!
More to come…
