AccuWeather’s New Look!

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of AccuWeather. All opinions are 100% mine.

I am a weather-watching FIEND. I have to be. I live in Upstate New York, and not even winter can stop me from traveling! Our last excursion to the Adirondacks was a little dicey– one of our local weather dudes called for “relatively” precipitation-free weather… NOT. It iced, snowed, and rained freezing drizzle as we drove three hours north. Not fun.

With our last snowstorm (“Snowmaggedon” everyone called it), AccuWeather was right on the ball. You see, I hadn’t heard anything about the coming storm on the local weather, but a friend of mine referred me to AccuWeather for information. I had no idea such a storm was imminent! It took a full two days for the local weather dudes to even address it. AccuWeather had detailed information up long before the others I’d checked.

AccuWeather is a traveler’s dream– you can grab weather forecasts and stats from anywhere in the world, about anywhere in the world. And they also have a ton of nice “side dishes” (lifestyle articles), like: “Weather and Travel” articles (today’s article is about tips for traveling creatively); “Weather and Home and Garden” with tips, advice, and gorgeous photos; and I love the “forensic weather” section. Plus, they have good videos with lots of weather stats (I’m also a weather stat fiend).

The “new and improved” AccuWeather is in Beta, now. It looks great! The webpage is less cluttered and it’s easier to navigate. The big search engine button is at the top, ready for spitting out the local weather. It looks very nice, nice and streamlined.

I think I’ll be turning to AccuWeather for my main forecast watching. I was pretty impressed with their accurate predictions about “Snowmaggedon,” plus the site is much easier to navigate. Check it out! They have a rather interesting spring outlook for the month of March…. we’ll see….

Cozy at Home

The threat of heavy snow and ice this afternoon has cancelled most activities and closed most places. I am so thankful my husband is home today anyway. He delivers mail on some very treacherous routes in the Upstate boondocks. He drives well despite the slippery roads, but I have had to rescue him a few times in the past. If it were a weekday, he’d have to deliver. All that “neither rain nor sleet nor snow nor hail…” thing. Only once has the Great Postmaster Chief ever closed post offices due to bad weather (that I can remember). I am glad its Sunday.

So we are all home and it is quite cozy. A pot roast simmers in the crockpot and an apple pie bakes in the oven. Biscuits are next. The kids have been enjoying old Daniel Boone movies (the old TV shows with Fess Parker are available in DVD sets; we have Daniel Boone – Season One). And I, as usual, am blogging.

I still have a few issues to work out with this WordPress blog. I can’t seem to configure the RSS feed. An Apache error keeps showing up. Now, I know my feed is good– I tried it manually and it works just fine. I suspect it might be something to do with my webhost. I don’t know how to configure feeds through that; I will have to call them to ask for their help. I hate calling tech support.

:( Yuk.

Update: It works, it works! Some great dude from the WordPress forums noticed that I still had a space in my feed url. I thought I’d eliminated that, but guess I didn’t after all. Woo! I don’t have to call tech support! The joy!

:)
