That is Absolutely Disgusting

I’m not terribly fond of hotels. They are enormously convenient, but I think they are dirty places. I am thoroughly repulsed at the thought of sleeping in a bed that countless other people– dirty bodies– have slept in before me. Ick.
I saw this video at Trip the Lady. This has got to really hurt the hotel industry. But then again, they’ve seen so many of these expose kinds of news magazine TV shows anyway. I’m amazed some of them still haven’t cleaned up their act. To quote one of the health inspectors watching the video, “That is absolutely disgusting.”
The video is quite sensationalist, absolutely. The chances of getting a staph infection from an improperly washed glass is so slim. So I’m taking a lot of the “news reporting” with a grain of salt. But hotels definitely need to “clean up” their act, so to speak. Publicity like this is really, really bad.
Hotels might have every luxury in the world available, from fancy ellipticals to indoor pools to champagne. But if the housecleaning is lousy, ya got nothing. I’m glad to see that Holiday Inn has switched to disposable (and wrapped) plastic cups. Glasses are so old-fashioned, anyway. And I’ve always been afraid I’d break them on the marble sinks.

Our local news had that hotel report on the unclean classes. It made me want to puke even though I hardly ever stay in a hotel.

I saw that video before I went on vacation, and decided my best bet was to just take some plastic cups with me to the hotels we were staying at.

I couldn’t agree more. I’d personally rather sleep in my car in front of the police station. my car is cleaner and sitting in front of the police station is safer…
