The Aptera Car

Edit: I’m placing this post back at the top, due to the interest it’s gotten. Plus, I just love this machine and I’d like more people to know of it! watch the video if you can! This is great!

All I can say is: WOW.

aptera

This is the Aptera car, classified as a motorcycle but able to reach highway speeds and 300 miles per gallon of gas, optimized. You could travel cross-country on ONE tank of gas. WOW. The Aptera, Greek for wingless flight, is the brainchild of a “bored” engineer who believed efficient and speedy transportation was attainable. It’s also affordable– $26,900 for the all-electric model, and $29,500 for the hybrid. WOW.

I found this video. Check out this amazing vehicle!

This could constitute an entirely new wave of the meaning of transportation in this country. I would definitely get one! The only problem is that they are so small. There is no way I could cram my four kids and I into such a tiny little thing for traveling. And if you’ve got a heavier driver, well, they’d have to go on a program of Leptovox before they could squeeze in! Looks like lots of leg room, though. A GREAT idea and I hope these guys are successful.

I want one–it would be perfect for me! I’d rather drive alone than with a car full of people, so really small is not a problem. And it looks like so much fun!

I hope they’re successful, too. By the way, I wouldn’t view this as a car for family road trips — this would be an ideal commuter car. I would love to have something like this for my 20 mile commute to work and would hope similarly situated people would take advantage of it, too.

How much gas do you think is wasted by people commuting in vehicles that manage about 14 MPG on the highway? It happens all the time around here.

Great product. I hope to see more of this in the future.

Looks really cool! But what I need to know is does it have enough space for Jane & Cheetah to ride comfortably, too? Is there room in the trunk for my electric guitar and an amp?

This looks great, right up my DH’s alley. Too bad it won’t fit all the bobbins though (family slang for children).
