Uber-Spam

This blog is being spammed like never before. Wha? I use Akismet like everyone else. It has shielded me from 99.9% of spam thus far. But more and more crap is sneaking through. Is anyone else having this problem? It’s always my archived posts that are being targeted, and usually the spam is filled with crap about gambling and porn. It’s almost always in a foreign language or broken English, too.

I don’t get it. Do spammers really believe that stuffing a comment with 20-30 links to crappy sites will really inspire people to click on their links and perchance even buy something? Why do they do it? Unless I am just a guinea pig; they are testing out new bots to see how low they can go? Boy, I despise this behavior.

Akismet is having a little trouble keeping up, because more of the crap is slipping through. Is anyone else having this problem?

I’m missing the days when I used to get an email or two about men’s jewelry or vitamin supplements. At least those ads were slightly entertaining.
