What’s Really Going On

Found this great quote from Jean at Yeah, Right. It’s an excellent post with some great videos. Go see!
This is what clear-headed Christians and Upstaters think of American culture and the slothful shift toward government control, these days:
Plays, farces, spectacles, gladiators, strange beasts, medals, pictures, and other such opiates, these were for ancient peoples the bait toward slavery, the price of their liberty, the instruments of tyranny.
A people enslaves itself, cuts its own throat, when, having a choice between being vassals and being free men, it deserts its liberties and takes on the yoke, gives consent to its own misery, or rather, apparently, welcomes it.
-The Politics of Obedience: The Discourse of Voluntary Servitude
Etienne de la Boetie, 1530-1563

There’s nothing new under the sun, eh?
In regards to the debate last night, I thought it was boring. I did not learn anything new about either candidate.
I wish they would change the format and let the two talk directly to each other, rather than letting the moderator control everything.

Hey Paul, you are very right.
Back in the days of open debates, candidates sometimes ended up in fistfights. At this point, anything is better than the milquetoast, tepid slop fed to us from the politicians, eh?

I think I’ve been to your blog before via entrecard, but I saw you featured on Homeschool Gold today and wanted to stop back again. I grew up in upstate NY (Geneva) but live in the south now.
