Madison County Tourism Passport Program

Madison County Tourism has one of the best tourism programs in Upstate New York (in my humble opinion). The website is incredibly user-friendly, the content is always fresh and updated, and there are lists galore so you can find events and attractions in moments. On top of it all, the county tourism department sponsors various special activities, like the Cultural and Historic Attraction Passport Program. Participants can win a free iPad just for visiting 8 of the 12 participating museums and historical sites! Here are the sites participating in the program:

Mummified Egyptian Cat

The Cazenovia Library Museum has a mummy and a mummified cat!

The Oneida Community Mansion House
Canastota Canaltown Museum
Chittenango Landing Canal Boat Museum
Lorenzo State Historic Site
National Abolition Hall of Fame and Museum (our review coming soon!)
Catherine Cummings Theatre
Cazenovia College Art Gallery in Reisman Hall
Earlville Opera House
Madison County Historical Society
Stone Quarry Hill Art Park
Gerrit Smith National Historic Landmark
Cazenovia Public Library

The program is a great opportunity for kids during the summer season. Many of these places feature kid-friendly activities and educational programs throughout the season.

To enter the contest, simply obtain a “passport” from one of these sites or from the Madison County Tourism blog. When you visit a site, get your passport stamped. Send in the completed passport, and a winner will be drawn in December. Even if you don’t win the iPad, you won’t regret the trips! We loved every second of our visits.
